Lowry's Masters Heartbreak: Second Sunday Collapse in Two Years

Shane Lowry collapsed again at 2026 Masters, shooting 80 on Sunday to finish T30, repeating last year's final-round meltdown.

Lowry entered the final round at nine under, just two shots behind co-leaders Rory McIlroy and Cameron Young. Last year he shot 81 in the final round to finish T42.

Lowry texted McIlroy he couldn't celebrate his Masters win, too 'dejected' after his own collapse.

Unlike last year when Lowry celebrated McIlroy's first Masters victory with wine at his house, this year's emotional toll was too much. Lowry stayed home instead.

Lowry's 2026 winless streak extends back to 2019 Open Championship victory.

The Irish golfer has endured multiple collapses this year, including a three-shot lead loss at the Cognizant Classic to Nico Echavarria.
